gorgeous outdoor spaces, charming historical setting, unique afternoon tea offerings
Room maintenance leaves much to be desired!!! Worn furniture and cleanliness issues in common areas detract from the overall experience!!! Certain facilities need a serious update for comfort and style!!!

The large walk-in rainfall shower in the Deluxe Double Room was a highlight, complemented by an inviting ambiance thanks to the crackling log fires. Breakfast was hit or miss. while eggs were cooked to perfection, the chaotic service during one morning stood out. A minor disappointment was the unavailability of warm croissants, which used to be a staple. the setting is charming and offers easy access to local trails.

Had a wonderful evening enjoying a lovely meal while a pianist played beautifully for us. We found the garden area perfect for a quiet cup of tea or just lounging in the sun. If I had to nitpick, the room could've had a little more space between the beds, but honestly, I slept like a baby! 😊

Charming historic atmosphere with great local food
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, particularly the cozy ambiance created by the vintage decor and open fires, perfect for unwinding after exploring the surrounding Dartmoor landscape. The dinner menu offered a delightful selection of locally sourced dishes that were expertly prepared and presented. One area for improvement would be to streamline the breakfast service, as it felt a bit chaotic at times.

Exceptional food and inviting atmosphere
I thoroughly enjoyed my one-night stay in this charming hotel, particularly the delightful dining experience with exquisite locally sourced dishes. The warm ambiance of the lounge, complemented by a cozy fireplace, made it the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the stunning Dartmoor surroundings. The staff was attentive and made me feel welcome throughout my visit. I found the dinner menu to be somewhat limited, which could be improved.

The twin room was spacious and clean, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The carpets in the dining area contributed to excellent acoustics, making meals enjoyable.
The hotel had a somewhat old-fashioned feel that might not appeal to everyone.

Had an amazing time with friends! We enjoyed nearby fishing and arranged pony trekking. The cozy atmosphere wraps around you, offering good meals, especially breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's a dog-friendly place. Highly recommend it for a group getaway!
One downside was a lack of space in the bathroom to put our things. It made things a bit tricky while getting ready.

Charming stay in the moors
Absolutely loved the cozy vibe! The classic Devon afternoon tea was to die for with scones, jam, and cakes that made my day. I also enjoyed the cool walk to Wistman's Wood nearby. Just wish the bathroom didn't have plastic cups everywhere. it's a bit off for such a lovely place. Still, I had a blast!
